Get to Know Wren
Introducing Wren Jung, an LMFT Intern and a second-year Master’s student in Couple and Family Therapy at Antioch University Seattle. With a BA in Psychology from Seattle University, Wren brings a deep commitment to addressing complex identity formation, including LGBTQ+ and transgender identity work, alongside issues such as queer and polyamorous relationship dynamics, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and trauma. Wren's practice focuses on serving queer couples, polyamorous/non-monogamous couples, adolescents, individuals, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ transgender individuals.

Wren employs a diverse array of therapeutic techniques including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), DBT, Narrative Therapy, Structural Therapy, Imago Relationship Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). Their humanistic and holistic client-focused approach, deeply influenced by the Person of the Therapist Model (POTT), emphasizes understanding each client as a whole and unique individual. Wren values the importance of recognizing each client's unique narrative, believing that personalized therapy can significantly improve one’s routine and quality of life.
They emphasize second-level change—the underlying belief systems—to foster lasting transformation. Wren believes that understanding the reasons behind our actions can lead to different, more positive outcomes. Effective communication with oneself can enhance interactions with others, thereby strengthening relationships and connections.

Wren’s approach is fluid and responsive, designed to meet the diverse needs and identities of their clients. They create a therapeutic space that invites creativity, understanding, and real-time adaptation to address the person in front of them.

Identifying as a transgender, genderqueer, non-binary, first-generation Korean American from the Midwest, and as a queer, polyamorous individual and former Division One college athlete, Wren brings a rich and diverse perspective to their practice. This background helps them connect deeply with clients navigating similar paths.

The ideal client for Wren is someone open to exploring new approaches and incorporating play into their therapeutic journey, an attitude Wren believes can significantly enhance the therapeutic process.

Guided by a profound insight from their undergraduate mindfulness class—“Awareness is the first step in choosing freedom”—Wren continues to apply this philosophy both personally and professionally.

Outside the therapy room, Wren enjoys a range of activities including art, hiking, spending time by bodies of water, reading, rock climbing, and yoga. Their interest in astrology reflects their deep curiosity about the world and the dynamics within it, often comparing it to checking the weather to understand the environment better.

Wren's dedication to the mental health field extends beyond their practice; they also contributed as a volunteer crisis text counselor for the Trevor Project during the pandemic, demonstrating their commitment to supporting those in crisis.

Wren Jung’s blend of professional knowledge, personal experiences, and commitment to inclusive, client-centered care makes them a valuable and empathetic therapist, ready to support their clients’ journeys towards healing and self-discovery.
