Get to Know Karen
Meet Karen Meadows-Hills, a compassionate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA). With a foundation in her Master's degree from Antioch University, her training further includes Gottman Level 1 & 2 trainings, underscoring her commitment to fostering robust and healthy relationships.

At the core of Karen's therapy approach is her deep understanding of the struggles faced by those desiring change but feeling uncertain about the path to it. Recognizing that sometimes all one knows is a need for change, Karen steps in to journey alongside her clients. She hones in on their specific needs, drawing out their inherent strengths, and collaboratively crafts a roadmap to the future they envision. Karen's ethos centers on creating a comfortable, safe space for clients, ensuring they can fully engage in the therapeutic process. With her guidance, clients emerge feeling empowered, ready to navigate life's challenges with confidence.
Karen brings a wealth of experience to her practice. She has worked extensively with adolescents, families, and couples, guiding them through significant relational trauma towards the path of post-traumatic growth. Beyond her direct therapy work, Karen's commitment to mental health shines through her volunteer work at Crisis Connections in Seattle, where she has provided critical crisis and suicide prevention support.

Karen specializes in a range of therapeutic techniques tailored to suit the unique needs of her clients, from Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Person-of-the-Therapist, and Experiential approaches like Satir’s method, to Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Her areas of interest span from standard issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, women's issues, and existential crises to specialized focuses on couples and families. This includes parental support, military families, veterans' issues, post-traumatic growth, young adult challenges, and even niche areas like climate change coping.

On a personal note, Karen draws inspiration from the words of Roy T. Bennett, believing, “Don’t be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart.” Outside the therapy room, Karen has navigated the joys and challenges of raising four young adults and cherishes 26 years of marriage with her military-retired husband. In her free time, she can often be found lost in a book, exploring new travel destinations, or taking rejuvenating walks around Seattle accompanied by her two Schnoodles.

With a perfect blend of professional expertise and personal touch, Karen Meadows-Hills stands as a beacon of hope, guidance, and transformation for all seeking her counsel.
